Congratulations to Christine Piper who was runner up in the 2-woods singles at Entaco on Friday 29th July.
Dave Greaves made a great start in the National Champion of Champions with a 21-19 win against Chris Barton (Kings Heath). After a bye in the second round, another good victory against Bournville's Tom Pritty saw Dave into the 4th round, where he lost to Wolvey's Trevor Pouncett.
In the County Fours, Francis Fletcher's rink with Roger Reade, Dave Greaves and Malcolm Evans followed their first round win against Erdington Court's Rob Robinson with a victory over Vince Warren's Bournville. The Muni Four went to Kings Heath to play Chris Barton's rink and won 22-16 to go through to the Semi-Quarter Finals at Sherwood Park. On a blustery evening they lost by one shot to Steve Merrett from Three Spires in Coventry.
In the Triples, Dave, Francis and Malcolm again went through from the Birmingham Area where they narrowly lost to a strong Welford three who have now gone on to reach the Final.
In the Pairs, Malcolm and Francis again qualified out of the area, where on a tremendous evening of high quality bowling in the Semi-Quarter Finals held at the Muni, they lost 20-21 to Avenue Coventry's Greg Sampson and Colin Jacox.
In the second round of the Ivens Cup we went to Tame Anker, where a strong performance from Stan Orton saw the hosts through.

Solihull Municipal represented the Birmingham Area in the Final of the Ivens Cup at FISSC on Sunday 1st August. After beating Sherwood Park A in the Area final, the Muni quartet of Holmes, Greaves, Evans, and Fletcher played the winners from the other three Areas - Nuneaton (Coventry), Grange (Rugby) and Fenny Compton (South Warwks). We couldn't quite lift the trophy, but the day ended a good season for the club in the County's team competitions.
Congratulations to Malcolm Evans and Francis Fletcher for reaching the Quarter-Finals of the Pairs.
In the Wardrop Cup, Muni won 3-2 at Handsworth Wood and host Erdington Court in the next round on Tuesday 22nd June.......
Following a 4-1 win against Erdington Court, Muni travel to Three Spires in Coventry for the Quarter Final on Tuesday 29th June.......
And a 4-1 win puts the Solihull Municipal in the Semi-Final on Tuesday 6th July, meeting Welford at Oakfield Bowls Club in Rugby......
but there our journey ended in dramatic fashion. Against a strong Welford side with several County regulars, Chris Holmes narrowly lost the 2 woods; Francis Fletcher had a good win in the 4 woods; Roger Reade and David Greaves had a superb victory in the Pairs; Nigel Walker, Keith Miller and Malcolm Evans were squeezed out by a strong Welford triples; and in the Fours, James Pearson, John Bentien, Geoff Wyatt and Tony Burdett lost on the last wood. Welford 3 - Solihull Municipal 2. Another very good performance from the Birmingham area following Kings Heath's victory last year.
Welford lost 3-2 to Rugby in the Wardrop Cup Final.
