Around 60 people in 11 teams enjoyed a fun night in the Widney Lounge on Friday 27th January. A close contest saw We Don't Want Tents (some with Eggheads experience) beat The Meldrews on the second tie break question (both teams knowing the 3rd member of Apollo 11, but the ...Tents had the better in calculating the area of a circle!) Ed. note - most of the questions were much easier than that!!
Make a date in your diaries - the next fun packed quiz is on Friday 13th April.

BBA Finals 2009
Solihull Municipal retained the BBA Walker Trophy in dramatic fashion against county champions Kings Heath and so achieve their first ever League and Cup double. Having narrowly lost the Singles, there were wins for the Pairs and the Fours (who crucially scored a 7 on the 18th end) to take a 2-1 lead. However, with the Triples losing going into the last end, it was clear that the match would be decided on shots scored, and Municipal needed to score 3 to tie and take the match into an extra end. For the first time in the game, Municipal counted 3 and asked for a 4th. The Umpire was called and after a check and recheck the game was won by one shot. Match scores were
- Chris Holmes lost 18-21
- Roger Reade / Dave Greaves won 23-15
- John Bentien / Keith Miller / Francis Fletcher lost 11-24
- James Pearson / Brian Trindle / Geoff Wyatt / Tony Burdett won 20-11
- Solihull Municpal won 72 - 71
In the BBA / BDWBA individual Finals, Solihull Municipal were well represented
- Jeanette Douglas, Christine Piper, and Joy Cooke won the Triples against Bournville
- Dave Greaves, Chris Holmes, and Malcolm Evans won the Triples v Sherwood Park
- Roger Reade, Keith Miller, Dave Greaves, Malcolm Evans won the Fours v Bournville
- Geoff Wyatt and Brian Jones lost in the Pairs against Kings Heath
